On Monday, in the morning, at Griffith Park, Cairns, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey attended the Peninsula School Sport 14 Years and Under Boys Cricket Regional Championships, where the Governor addressed players and other attendees, officially opened the Championships and witnessed the first ball.

Following, at the Cairns City Beat, the Esplanade, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey met Queensland Police Service personnel and acknowledged their dedication and service.
Following, at the ABC Studios, the Governor recorded an interview with ABC Far North Queensland Mornings Presenter Mr Phil Staley about the role of the Governor and Regional Government House operations.
In the afternoon, the Governor assumed duty as Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia; and the Honourable Chief Justice Catherine Holmes commenced duty as Acting Governor.
In the evening, at the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino, His Excellency the Administrator and Mrs de Jersey hosted a community reception.
