29 March
On Wednesday, in the morning, at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC attended and officially launched the Salvation Army 2017 Red Shield Appeal for Queensland.
Following, at St John’s Anglican Cathedral, Brisbane, Mrs Kaye de Jersey attended the Lady Day Eucharist for Mothers’ Union Australia, Diocese of Brisbane.
Following, at Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha, the Governor attended the Queensland Council of Garden Clubs President’s Morning Tea and addressed guests.
In the afternoon, the Governor issued the following message:
Kaye and I join all Queenslanders in praying for the continuing wellbeing of everyone impacted by Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
Our thoughts are firmly with those whose property has been damaged so unforgivingly, and whose livelihoods have been disrupted.
Kaye and I acknowledge the mobilising volunteer and emergency services contingent, and convey to them, and the people of our North, the support of their fellow Queenslanders in the hope that it may sustain them as this difficult situation unfolds.
Also in the morning, overnight guests departed Government House.
