Patronage
The Governor has a role in unifying and promoting Queensland and Queensland organisations by undertaking activities that assist, promote, encourage and recognise Queenslanders across a wide range of community interests. The acceptance of Vice-Regal patronage from worthy organisations and events, which aim to improve the lives of Queenslanders, is a principal way in which this support is provided.
Patronage organisations are generally Queensland-based community groups and associations with no political agenda. Revised guidelines governing the acceptance of vice-regal patronage and other honorary appointments are being developed and will be published in due course.
How to invite the Governor to be your Patron
Vice-regal patronage is a personal honour bestowed by each Governor and does not automatically transfer with a transition of Governor.
Organisations wishing to invite the Governor to accept patronage or another honorary appointment will have an opportunity to apply in due course. Details of the application and review process will be made available on this website.
